When we visited UPenn, the parking charges
were different for just visitors @$7/h and hospital visitors @3/h. When I went to the counter to pay, the cashier asked me, was this a hospitol visit. Since the hospital is between the school and the parking garare I could very easily say hospital. But I did not lie, gladly pay the $7/hour rate.
When I was in China a couple years ago and visited a well known doctor. My parents knows him very well but there are people waiting to see him. My parents walked over everyone and said "Hello". The doctor said come over. I refused and waited in the line for my turn.
I am sure many have the the same type of experiences/stories. Having lived in this environment as an educated person does change people.
