You got laid off may not be that bad. Your child(ren) 's need based aids may cover more than the $10K you gave to your parent.

You give the $$ to your parents because you want them to have less worry and be happy. You have achieved your goal. So, if I were you, I would only call to tell them they made a great decision buying a TV that they could enjoy.
