and which country you are in when accident happened, whether you have your own car insurance, and which type of card you used, plus the rental car company itself - whether it is a corporate owned or a franchisee - lots of variables.

Obviously the rental car company did not bill you "loss of usage" - if they did, AMEX did not cover such until very recently - as I just received their mailing about important change which is to add this coverage.

I will write a separate post on this subj when I have more time - hope that would help others how to handle such.
