1. keep power in his own hands forever;
2. retaliate Deng and overthrow Deng's legacy.
The item 2 is actually part of item 1, or I can list many items which are part of item 1.
Xi Jinping is very clear what he wants to do. He is not a 昏君, but he really wants to be a 君王。
Now you will be able to see Xi Jinping's trouble and why he will fail:
In 21st cetury, do Chinese want a 君王? At least, most Chinese are not interested in having king any more.
That is why Xi Jinping will fail one day, soon or late. We may need to wait a couple of years, or even 10 years.
