If you like to do some outdoor activities, there is a shenandoah national park with planty of hiking trails couple of hours driving from DC.

Annapolis, MD - Naval Acadamy is worth a half day trip; Alexandria, VA - Olde Towne is good place for night life; new Smithonian Air and Space museum in Dulles, VA is good place to kill time if you are tired of museums in downtown DC.
