Hi bankers, could you help me !

Recently, I am applying Investment Bank Information Technology graduate scheme.

The first step is to fill in the online application form. I almost finished all the blanks except for

some finance side questions. I have no time to read much materials on investment bank coz I am really busy

with my project. Could you give me a hand to answer some finance side quetions. I will appriciate
your help.

1 What important functions have IT provided to the finance industry and what additional advances would you expect IT to contribute?

You know, in investment bank, there are front office and back office. Both of them have IT staff.

In back office, IT staff would be dealing with more technical issues such as network and database.

While, as in the front office where IT staff should have both IT and business knowledge.

My question is which kind of data is stored in database, trading information? trading history?

I think storing trading data and history is the most important function for finance industry.

Also, I think network in IB IT department means the security for transferring data. Could you give

me some more example on network in detail? I need some idea.
