Thanks for your quick response. This could be a silly question, what is AMT? I guess it's related to the tax rate delta between the two.

E.g, if I had a $20K long-term capital loss in 2007; and a $15K short-term capital gain in 2007. Can I assume that I have a net loss of $5K in 2007. $3K can be used to reduce my income; And the remaining $2K will be carried forward.

How does AMT impact the calculation above? Thanks in advance!
