I think one needs to be flexible based on his financial capability and the market trend. If someone just practises buy-and-hold, he will have to cut cost to the bone to save enough cash for his additional investment properties. Buy-and-sell can help to ramp up the asset one controls within relatively short time; otherwise buy-and-hold may work well.
