for shares you borrowed for shorting. Interest could be very high, maybe over 10% to 30%, or even higher. Sometimes, market run out of shares for borrow, you simply can not short it.

Short is risky. I have been very right one time about shorting a stock, ilmn, but I managed to lose big on it, because of pressure.
