Using a snake may not be enough sometimes

If you have a garden house and it can reach your sink area, using a rubber drain bladder to flush away the loosen waste inside the drain may be necessary. The typical 25' long snake never worked well enough (for me) by itself. I always use both, sometimes also including liquid plumber, to unclog drains.
