Very good topic, 有点意思,但似是而非
What exactly do you mean here by "marketing"?
You seems to infer most or a lot money were made by distributor and retailer, which is true and obvious. If you try to make a point, that's unfair, then stop.
From the very beginning when a product is made, through distribution, to the end customers, whoever got control will benefit the most, as simple as that. Distributor/wholesaler and retailer deserve their cut, unless you overthrow them. It's last mile and it's local, not only geographically but also cultural wise.
If you say 这两块肥田仍然是白种人的绝对领地, 从中想引申出anything, then you have to make it more clear. If you want to win the ultimate 巷战,one by one, then you fully conquer that country, mentally and physically. Reality is, foreign retailer are not doing well in segmented markets like HK who 哈洋老子 so much. Euro big names are not doing well in US, and US retailers are not doing well in Europe either. Big foreign names are not doing so well in China and Japan.
In US, originally it's center city dominated, like Macy, look at the Sear's tower in Chicago. It's demographics, like London's Harrods and Selfridges, 上海的中百和华联,日本有八佰伴。Walmart的飞速发展只是30-40年的事情,again because of demographics, more people moved to suburb. Because of W, M&P are dying. Recently Amazon starts to look like overthrown most those brick and mortar ones. 所以短短一百年内,潮起潮落,有多少player各领风骚几十年. Where are they right now?
肥了港澳台的贸易公司,well they helped you. Do they derserve something? 现在肥了欧美分销商和零售商, if they don't sell Chinese products, they will sell Japanese and Korean products, are they still going to 肥?
