cash to invest

hey guys, i will have about 800k cash coming up. i have no debt at all (no mortgage, car loan, or credit card debt). with this kind of economy, how should invest this cash? i am thinking to put about 150k in the market, what about rest? also i have been thinking doing my own business, what would be? franchise?
