No one can give you more advice without the details/documents

If the $1000 is worth the deal, do it.  Move on.  If this $1000 breaks the deal, walk away. (personally, I do not think $1000 should make difference in the deal.) if the $1000 is obviously a fraud, file complaint to board or BBB. (hu*****and/wife is an easy case.)
