Since U.S goverment garranty the rent, there will be no deposit. As far as whether they will take good care the property, that's not U.S goverment concern.

Another thing, if they ask short term rent, you can say my house is for long term lease, 6 months or 1 year min. This is not hotel business. Even most city have min rent period requirement.
