the only things can be average down is mutual funds, ETFs etc. I am not comfortable to average down a stock. Nobody knows if a stock can be 0.

However, when crisis in 2008 hit. Most people did not average down any mutual funds, ETFs. Instead , they sold and switch to money market/bonds. :)
