only $60K tax for $240K income?

I thought the tax would be at least $100K for that income. That's the case when we made $260K. I remember our tax was more than 40% (all the tax, social security, etc), but I could be wrong, I neevr paid clsoe attention to our tax anyway. My wife does our tax.
