i think you did the right thing. you will be ok; bank can not sue you over this. as far as how long you can keep receiving rent, you may want to consult an attorney.

as far as becoming US citizens, i think you have already made enough contributions to US economy :)  i am sure immigrantion judge will understand that part :)
