real house can drop 20%.... 

if you spread the risk with a fund or ETF, 20% is rare.

even if it does, it means you pick more shares for cheap with dollar cost averaging..

My biggest portion of long term holdings are stocks, and since I am far far away from retirement, I'd feel happy if the market crashes so I can accumulate more at cheap.
