non government 457也不安全啊

10年前离开1公司，新公司没有457，非政府457选择留在那里。现在公司有457.考虑转过来。给2家financial inst打了很多电话。表也交了。今天原来公司financial inst说"you already made an election that is currently set start on 2040."所以不能做任何transfer or cash out.也不能改那个日期，只能等到2040.

查了一下，还真是这样。

Even though it’s 100% your contributions, legally it’s considered the employer’s asset with a liability to pay you later.

• If the employer goes bankrupt → you’re just another unsecured creditor.

• If the employer merges or is acquired → depends on whether the buyer assumes that liability.

 原来不知道457这么不安全。
