mechanic lien-- is there a short time period one has to file?

jy and others, i think one has to file within 45 days (30 days) from last work, depends on the state/province laws. almost all times, dispute will last well over 45 days and the "contractor" then cannot put liens on the property, except to sue the property owner in court.

So what your opinions??
