Short sale

question:

I have a short sale that seller agree to sell, but the bank does not have nay response for 5 months. And my agent looks like not really care about this short sale. So I wonder can I as buyer contact the bank and ask about the short sale status? Or any other suggestions in order to quickly close the short sale.
