Basically, you need to at least start your loan process before lender bank approval based on my experience. Regarding home inspection and lawyer review, it is up to you. You need to take some risk if you really want the house. Otherwise, you can take your chance. But if someone else offer case offer (that means they pay full cash or they already got the loan approved), you will lose. This is my experience. I did not trust the realtor when he told me to get loan ready because i thought he just want to get me into the deal, that is true though. But i lost to someone who offer less than me, but got their loan ready.
