I would rather not use it for anything that might be exposed to water. Glazing compound (nizi) is cheap and you can save leftover for a long time. I do use joint compound to fix door dents. When a tenant busted an interior (hollow core), I use meshed dry wall tape and compound to patch holes. Sand it over and paint, looks ok than buying a new door.
