preferred shares and common shares are totally different

animals, preferred shares are more like bonds. That $115 price is about option, IIRC. Meaning that Buffett could buy common shares at $115 in the next 5 years. So Buffett did not buy any GS at 115/share. He just made a deposit of $5 billion at GS, and GS promise to give him 10% interest per year.
