for years, otherwise don't touch it, you would be scared out of your position pretty easily. Only after you are willing to hold for years, then you can start to build trading skills on top of that.

But why you want to hold a stock for years, because it is undervalued. so make sure your stock is undervalued after discounting all the risks.
