Based on what your tenant telling u, you need to take a look.

Go to the house and take a look at yourself.  A field mice dyed inside a wall or somewhere in the house will not make the house smell that long like your tenant described.  I would go to the house and find the source of the smell myself, not just based on my tenant telling me.  Good luck.
