Speaking of debt, you need to talk about it in a context.  The US economy is a 19 trillion dollar economy.  Comparing to US economy, the debt isn't as daunting as it appears.  To give you an example, 10 million dollar debt is dangerous for a family with $100k annual income, but it is not much for a family with, say, 5 million dollars annual income.
