我的情况is same as your husband. 既没有traditional IRA account ,也没有Roth IRA account.不太懂你说的"I would convert his newly opened traditional IRA account into a Roth IRA account ". 你是说你不用 open a Roth IRA for your husband，就是就是把新开的 traditional IRA account 转换成 Roth IRA account ？还是说两种账户都要开，然后存税后$$$到traditional IRA，再把traditional IRA 里的 $$$ 转存到Roth IRA 账户里？
