Many of you guys CLEARLY have no idea what went wrong here. She said she can't hear herself in the monitors. The monitors are the earbuds artists wear and/or speakers that sit on stage pointing towards the artist so they can hear the song they are performing. Without those working the artist can''t hear ANYTHING but the echo of the speakers that are pointed towards the audience. That echo is delayed so she cannot sing along to it because whatever she sings will sound delayed to everyone listening. Whether she decided to lip sync or not she needs those monitors in order to do it accurately. Which is why her lip syncing the last song looked so delayed, because she was only hearing the echo of the music being played to the crowd. If her monitors were working she would've been able to sing the 1st song & lip sync the last song better. She didn't forget the words or mess up her lip-syncing, the behind the scenes crew messed up the audio. As she said, there was no rehearsal. It's an embarrassing moment for her but it's more annoying because you guys are ignorant to what really happened and just make up what you think is going on. Also, MOST artists lip-sync during these outdoor New York New Years Eve celebrations. It's a VERY cold environment which makes it very difficult to sing on key. Mariah has also been lip-syncing for years so lets not act like thats news.
