That's something young people say to justify things or make themselves feel better when a pal died doing something stupid. I've been with someone as they died doing something they loved. The utter terror in his eyes as his life ended showed me he realized he was about to die way too early, and I bet that dying as an old man in his bed would NOT have been a bad way to go at all. I think you should do what you really want to do with life and not be afraid of those things, but don't be a moron and show some caution so that this life can go on longer and not be a cautionary tale for others to snicker over after you're dead and gone.

Totally classic movie! The remake doesn't even stand a chance of standing up to the original. Swayze and Reeves are magic onscreen together. Fantastic supporting cast - everyone was well played and very suited to their characters. Like Roadhouse, this is a movie that will stand the test of time and which no remake will ever replace it.

1 of the very Best Movies made with Patrick Swayze Keanu Reeves and Lori Petty. I found it hard to believe Patrick was 39 in this movie and died 18 years later. Keanu was only 26, and Lori was 27. All 3 had to take surfing lessons, yet Patrick was already a registered skydiver as well as a pilot. Funny thing is Patrick owned a plane like the one in this movie. And while picking up several cases of wine, he had to make an emergency landing in a neighborhood. The FAA cleared him of any wrongdoing. RIP Patrick. Thanks for all the wonderful things you did and sharing them with us. You left us too soon.

This is the perfect movie—it has everything: beautiful surfing scenes, that "endless summer" feel, Keanu and Patrick (among other greats), action, so many iconic "ex-presidents" scenes...every second of it is great, but one of my favorites must be President Reagan tossing a pit bull on agent Utah. ???? I can rewatch this classic at any time.
