My 2 cents

If you are regular traveler with family to a particular place, timeshare is a good way to save money. For example, you and your family go to Maui every year, then you should think about to get a timeshare in Maui.

If you try to make some money through a timeshare, not easy. The most of cases, you will lose money. Because you have to pay annual maintainence fee no matter you use the timeshare or not, may be another replace equipment fee every five year...

Once you own a timeshare, you can join a few memberships as such RCI, SFO Exchange... to exchange travel locations. But you need to pay extra money once an exchange happens.

Anyway, you need to do some research before you make a decision to buy a timeshare.
