Kind of different. "Opening Night" at La Scala is on 12/7

every year which is Saint Ambros' Day (Milan's patron saint).  It is not the opening night for a new season like MET or most other opera houses in the fall of each year. Typically the best new production of the year at La Scala starts on this day. This year is Verdi's Don Carlo. La Scala published a luxery book "Opening Night at La Scala" which records every opera performed on that day for many years in the past. The ticket price for Opening Night is much higher than the same opera on the subsequent days and very hard to get.
