We were in the area - actually were going to the Internet cafe at the edge of Charling Cross (edge of China Town).
On our way walking back to Piccadilly, we found there were roadblocks, police everywhere and crowds, or more precisely, mobs - it turned out Hugh Grant and some friends were visiting a club or a restaurant in the area. Saw him walking out and the crowds went crazy...
Our hotel was Holiday Inn Mayfair, just accross street from Ritz and about 20 steps into the side street. Tiny tiny room and lobby, but excellent location - much better location than our first hotel JW Marriott on Park Lane - one of the most prestigeous areas in London, US Embassy and several Arab Embassies are in that area. In fact US Embassy is just one street away from the backstreet of the hotel, protected by barricades. We have never seen so many exotic cars parked on street. At JWM courtyard, there were a Maserati and a Lamborghini parked there during our stay. Bentley, Ferrari, Porche, they are everywhere. But we only saw 2 Rolls, ironically.
Hugh Grant - one night we bumped at the occasion
