here, as if they are forced to stay aboard for this and that, whatever reason/excuse/circumstances, etc, so they could not go home...
Note I said "Could" - but in reality is, they choose "Would not" go home.
Action is the fact and truth. Language is a twist of tongue, in a way.
I can understand your long post - esp about visiting the aging parents and appreciating their decision to push you aboard. They knew, it was for the better. We Chinese have a saying (actually from a poem) - The Tree wants to be quiet but the wind keeps blowing. The children want to take care their parents but the parents are no longer there.
It is the families, the friends, that are calling us back, not the Motherland. The Motherland of today, has too many things I cannot accept, in principle.
Not really - you can miss Home, but not like what I read
