Define英国英语. I can handle hollywood british accent

but not the real british english. To me the british english and the american english are quite different. Once I was in a business meeting in SC and there's this british guy there. I had a very difficult time understanding what he said. The friendly americans tried to make me feel better by saying it's not just me, that it's no easy job for them either. I've never been to the great britain so I have no way of telling if he just happened to be a person with very strong accent or he was a good representation of what the real british english is like.
