I believe you are AS MVP ...
Anyway my friend emailed me, he just successfully booked 3 business class award seats using AS miles for travelling SEA to SYD in July 2007. 3 business class seats!!! (to illustrate, for our NZ/OZ trip next March, I am still waiting for one business class seat to open up for our return leg AKL/SFO on NZ, using UA miles - I made the booking in May this year - I hope NZ will open up biz award seat 60 days before our departure date).
Not only he scored all 3 biz seats, at the desirable dates, he only needed to use 110K AS miles for each seat. AA needs 125K, and NO biz seat at all (AA does not fly to OZ, it would be on QF using AA miles) for 3 alternative dates he tried.
My guess is, there are many more AA FFs who have miles to do longhaul premium cabin awards, versus there are far less AS FFs who have large balance to do that...
Thought I would give you a heads-up, in case you would like to go Down Under and pay Golden Gun a visit. :)
Wunderlust: AS miles to Australia on QF is a bargain!
