Europeans eat all sorts of flowers too, Roses, Violets, Pensies, a majority of flower petals are edible - we were told by a botanicist at Sydney, (not a mis-spell) Vancouver Island when we stayed at his B&B (he retired from BC forestry dept and built his retirement home which also a B&B).
