俺见过 - in winter too. but I was little chicken

only saw it from half-way on mountain slope - car parked at the outside road, trekked about 1/2 miles to an overlook. The snow was about tight-deep. Later we went to the edge of the lake. I would never forget how COLD it was.... much much colder than at the lookout.

It was either late March or early April, that year we went. A very late snow storm almost closed the road to Lake Tahoe. The police set up road block to check car tires - we did not have chain, only a rental sedan, but the car was equipped with "All Season" tires. The trooper let us thru. On the final stretch, a car skitted and made a 180 on a upsloping section of the road and went to the opposite side. We were the 3rd car following that car, scared the hell out of us. Luckily there was no car on the opposite direction so there was no accident. Otherwise, it could be a major collision.
