Adams River Run is the most spectacular and the longest journey the Sockeyes travel - from Pacific Ocean to Fraser River to Adams River - total time 18 days!!!!
Even the same specy, Salmons have different life cycles in different parts of the country - for example, Sockeye in AK has similar run every year (but their journey is much shorter than those that went to Adams River).
Sockeye is also the most beautiful - they turn bright red. Chinook for example, only turns to muddy red. Ruddy red certainly is not as pretty as bright red. :-)
