SOS: Only1 day: Vancouver or Sea to Sky hy to Whistler? Thanks!

I only have 1 day and 2 nights in Vancouver in mid Aug before heading to Pacific RIM and Victoia. Should I stay in Van or drive to Whistler and take the p2p Gondola. Thank you very much !
