questions about SF - will have one day there

I will be staying a hotel at Fishman's Wharf, SF and have whole next day there. The hotel charges $38/daily for parking. Is there a less expensive way to park? (I have to drive there)

I wish also to see the nightly scene of the Golden Bridge. Where is the best location to see it?

Is it safe to walk on the street at night?

Never been to SF before.
