about the water, I used my tripod at the beginning when I was at Johnston Canyon, but I felt it's not easy to carry both my heavy camera and tripod at the same time, so I didn't use the tripod later at all. Just held my breath when used the slower shutter speed, took 2+ pictures in case the first try was blur....
