If you check the sunset time, time your return ferry from Orcas accordingly, you will most likely see from the ferry Mt Baker bathed in the dramatic last ray of sunshine, which I did. Seeing a snow-capped volcano from the ocean is one of the best views you can get in the Northwest (or anywhere).
