Yup, Elk is dangerous too, esp during mating season

Last Sept when we were in YS, we saw a big group of elks at Mommoth Spring (the town) - there were 4 or 5 very aggressive males and a big group of females. It looks like the female group already has a dominant male, and the other males were trying to challenge him. One male just sat at an intersection of the main street that went thru town and made noise often. We passed thru the town twice with several hours apart - on our last trip these animals were still there, it was almost dark (passed 7pm). Park rangers and vulanteers were around to make sure tourists did not do any foolish things.
