You do take a chance of missing the flight if anything happens. And that anything could be on the Canada side (border traffic, Vancouver traffic, border shut down) or the US side (airport security lines esp. in summer when big cruise ship loads of passengers leave from Sea-Tac, and/or Seattle traffic)
