get detailed maps from AAA /CAA

it is well worth it to join AAA if you are not member.

You can order AAA maps online, i think they have the basic Canada maps, including BC portion.

However you can get much better maps at CAA offices once you are in Canada.

Each time when we are in Canada, we make a point to drop by CAA offices to replace our maps.

Vancouver Island now has a freeway (North South) straight up from Victoria, more or less parallel to the coastal hwy.

If you have such limited time, save Vancouver Island to your next trip. It would be much more enjoyable that way.
