expedia ticket

I have question about expedia.com

My hu*****and bought two tickets from expedia.com. But for some reason, We want to cancel the tickets and found out the tickets are non-refoundable and non- trasiferable. The only choice we have is to use the tickets within 1 year.

Does anyone have the same experience as us. Is there anyway to cancel the tickets or extent longer? Thanks in advance.
