At least each metro area is worth half a day to tour a little bit and take a lunch or something.
Yellowstone+Grand Teton, I'd say at least 3-4 days for a basic visit and a week for a nice one. I actually came to this forum for advice before our trip and many old posts said 3 days is enough. Turn out that we started to regret for having listened to that once we stepped down the airplane. It's probably not just us and if you talk with other tourists there, a week is the most common length. Last time I saw some Chinese friends rushing out their van for photoes and running back to drive on. They could probably "cover everything" in that way in two days but that is totally no sense to me.
I like all kinds of touring resorts by the way, natural or man-made, historic or modern.
U R driving, not touring.
