What I am reading here appear to be an excerpt from a British colonist's diary a couple of hundred years ago.
I couldn't help thinking, what kind of country, what kind of people, China and Chinese are going to be when they become prosperous and powerful. With this breed of "jingying" in control, it will be worse than Japan. At least Japan treated its own citizen fairly. What I often hear here (and else where when communicating with Chinese) is the voice of the most barnal, selfish and shiliyan part of human instinct. Have you ever been taught self esteem and respect to others? What do you think of "mingong" in China?
What one may count as one of the biggest failure of the Chinese education (both instituitional and family) is the creation of a couple of generations of people who knows a few skills but failed to develop a proper character.
You stinks!
