many activities. Happen to go San Fran every month, once or twice. Absolutely love the city. By the way, don't know if you are talking about San Francisco the city, or San Francisco the Bay. There is a big difference. The cultures between San Francisco the city and outside the city is very different. When the locals say San Francisco, they are talking about the City. Most of out-of-towners are referring the to the Bay Area.

Driving in SF is easy if you can figure out several major arteries. Parking is the hard part. Love the thrill of driving on the steep hills in a rental car (hey, it's not my car). If you don't like driving in the City, get a rental car inside the City only when you are ready to venture outside the city. You can take Bart or shuttle from the airport to your hotel. San Francisco is a very pedestrian friendly city (I'm talking about the City).
